Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between cow and buffalo desi ghee?

Both are 100% milk fat with no preservatives and no added colour. Cow desi ghee is golden-yellow, lighter and more aromatic, and many families prefer it for children and daily use. Buffalo desi ghee is naturally white, richer and creamier, and is loved for parathas, halwa and festive cooking.

How can I tell if desi ghee is pure?

Pure desi ghee melts quickly on a warm spoon, smells of makhan rather than oil, and sets with a grainy (daanedaar) texture in cooler weather. Phulka ghee contains only milk fat, with no vanaspati, palm oil or added colour.

Does it need refrigeration?

No. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and always use a clean, dry spoon. It may turn solid in winter and soft in summer. Both are normal.

Why is it grainy or solid sometimes?

That is natural. Desi ghee sets into grains (daana) as the temperature drops. Warm the jar slightly and it melts back to liquid.

Where is it made?

Phulka desi ghee is made and packed by Phulka Foods in Thall Chowk, Layyah, Punjab, Pakistan. The batch number, MFG date and Best Before date are printed on every jar.

How much is delivery, and how do I pay?

Delivery is free on orders of Rs 5,000 or more. Below that, the delivery charge depends on your parcel weight and is shown at checkout before you confirm your order. We deliver across Pakistan, usually within 2 to 5 working days, and Cash on Delivery is available, so you pay when the parcel reaches you.
